Circular Bridge Built To Slow Down Drivers So That They Would Enjoy The View

The end of 2015, architect Rafael Viñoly has completed a round road bridge that stretches across a lagoon on the southern coast of Urguay (stretches across Laguna Garzon between the cities of Maldonado and Rocha). This bridge was designed by Rafael Viñoly (Uruguayan architect base in New York), it took 12 months to complete and replaces old raft crossing. It designed to encouraging drivers to enjoy the view of this place.

The concept of this structure was to transform a traditional vehicular crossing in order to slow down the speed of the cars or other transports, to give them an opportunity to enjoy views to landscape that is amazing place and the passengers can create a pedestrian place in the center too.


This Laguna Garzon Bridge was constructed with over 450 tons of formed steel and forty thousand metres of post tensioned cables and used concrete 3,500 cubic metres. The construction has also proved controversial, provoking protests from groups of environmental.
